Nuku Hiva Island is the largest island in the Marquesas Islands group, in the north of French Polynesia. It is located about 1370km northeast of Tahiti. Its area is 339 km2. The highest altitude is 1224m. The population is about 2700 people. The island is volcanic and has a landscape that resembles Hawaii, completely different shapes than the previous islands in French Polynesia.
While they have lagoons, white sandy beaches, bright blue water, they are mostly flat, Nuhu Hiva is a different place with a lot of bays, coves, high hills that have sharp peaks, the beaches can be golden, the water is darker. The place is different but equally beautiful. There are even tropical conifers on the heights.
