Coral and Giant Clam restoration (by Vatuvara Foundation)

Vatuvara Foundation (in center in Kaibu Island where their resort is https://tropicalislands.net/yacata-and-kaibu-islands/ ) started last year coral observation and restoration project in Yacata and Kaibu Islands. They are dedicated to ocean and environmental protection in their and surrounding islands.  This restoration project came from the urgent need as climate change is drastically affecting our oceans, and therefore corals. After cyclone Winston in 2016, and several coral bleaching, many corals around are damaged or destroyed.

scientists from Vatuvara Foundation are carefully maintaining those corals. In this their picture, we see coral fragments attaching and growing in mother colonies

More about this project can be read here https://www.vatuvara.org/blog/2020/6/8/coral-restoration-in-northern-lau-for-a-healthy-and-safe-ocean

Also, they are dedicated in preserving Giant Clams in the group. They established giant clam lagoon nursery to observe over 200 juvenile giant clams. They are endangered. More in foundation’s facebook post https://www.facebook.com/vatuvarafoundation/photos/a.1703958453243096/2366663463639255/

This is how should be done. This is a good way  and example of helping the environment! Hopefully we will see results soon!
