Today is International Day of Planet

International Day of Planet or Mother Earth Day is an annual event on April 22. Its aim is to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was held first time on April 22, 1970, and now it includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EARTHDAY.ORG (formerly Earth Day Network) including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries.

UN celebrates it also as ,,International Mother Earth Day”.  The famous Paris Agreement about climate change was signed on planet day 22 April 2016 by USA, China, Russia, EU, and the vast majority of the world.

Today, Antonio Guterres UN Secretary-General has called for a commitment to restoring the planet, and to making peace with nature, in his message to mark International Mother Earth Day. ,,We must act decisively to protect our planet from both the coronavirus and the existential threat of climate disruption.” – UN Secretary-General António Guterres
